Keral is a region in southern India consisting of a long strip of land, around 120 kilometers across at it widest, extending along the coast of the Arabian Sea.

My suggestion:
Spend a few days on a boat leisurely sailing the backwaters : the scenery is magnificent; time seems to stand still; and the experience is a magical one!
My review

Kerala is a very beautiful region with an extremely rich variety of wildlife, which you can observe at its numerous national parks and reserves, where elephants, leopards, tigers and bears roam the rich natural environment. I encourage you to visit these places: the scenery there is simply magnificent.

But Kerala, the "Land of Coconut Palms", also has other attractions somewhat more oriented towards leisure and relaxation to offer. There are superb beaches to be found along the region's extensive coastline, such as the very highly-rated ones at Kovalam. One of my favorites is Cherai Beach, which lies caught between the sea and the backwaters. And talking of the backwaters, these consist of a mix of natural and artificial canals extending along the coast and forming a huge network, which is used by the local inhabitants for the purposes of getting around and transporting goods. Exploring these canals by boat represents one of my fondest memories of Kerala, a place you absolutely must explore when visiting India !

A south-western Indian state, which lines the Laccadive Sea and is known for its beaches and the Backwaters.

My suggestion:
Touring Kerala, after you have traveled through one or more of the other Indian states, will give you a welcome change of scenery.
My review

I'll always remember, during one of my trips to India, the first time I came to Kerala. I arrived from the Tamil Nadu side and the moment we passed the state border I was stunned by the difference between this area and the others that I had visited.

In short, and in many ways due to its long standing communist polices, it appeared cleaner, more organized, calmer and better educated than the rest of the country. And I guarantee that, during your trip to India, these are things you'll come to appreciate!

The beaches, the towns and the Backwaters are just a few reasons why visitors come here from all over the world. Its educational standards are extremely high - more than 97% of both boys and girls are educated in Kerala.

Lying in the far south of India, and though less well known than Rajasthan, the region of Kerala is actually one of the most beautiful in the whole country.

My suggestion:
With the mountains of Munnar and the coconut palms of Cochin to see, and not forgetting a cruise around the Alleppey backwaters, I recommend spending at least a week in Kerala.
My review

Because of its geographical location in the far south of India, Kerala is not a region spoiled by mass tourism. Which is all the better, because it means that those who go to the effort of getting here when traveling India will leave delighted by the region.

There is something to suite every taste in Kerala. The tea plantation-covered mountains of Munnar are where those seeking tranquility and a cool, fresh climate head. Fans of beaches and palm trees go to the coastal area on the Oman Sea. The region's main city and its biggest tourist attraction is Cochin.

My favorite thing in Kerala is something that is also suitable for romantic couples: the cruises around the Alleppey backwaters are fantastic. And to make things even better, I would like to add that the Keralites are the most welcoming, friendly people of all India.

As you've no doubt gathered, I adore Kerala, and I strongly encourage you to visit and discover this superb region.
