A small village in Uttar Pradesh, well-known for its Hindu and Jain temples.

My suggestion:
Stay with a Deogarh resident, to take the time to discover the nearby temples.
My review

In Deogarh, you discover the "real" India, rural India, countrysides and traditions. Women are in the fields, cows are in the roads, and small, operative temples criss-cross the landscape everywhere.

In Deogarh, you can visit a number of ancient temples, in more or less good condition. I especially remember the magnificent temple of Vishnu, built in the 6th century, with an absolutely wonderfully sculpted exterior.

The area is also home to about thirty Jain temples, grouped together in an unbelievably fortified area dating back to the 9th century. It's a visit you don't want to miss on a trip to India especially if you take the time to really discover the northern part of the country and meet the locals and experience their daily lives.
