In the extreme north-east of China, surrounded by Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, the city of Burqin is a melting pot of different ethnicities. Chinese live side-by-side with Kazakhs, Uighurs, Mongols and Russians.

My review

One hundred and fifty kilometers north of the city is the Kanas Nature Reserve, considered to be one of the country's most beautiful natural sites.

The Kanas preserve astonishes its visitors with its vast palette of landscapes: glaciers, pine forests, rugged mountain ranges and lush, green prairies. Lake Kanas, located in the Altai Range, is nicknamed "God's Palette" for the variety and beauty of its colors. Animal lovers, get your cameras out! Snow leopards, lynx, deer, arctic hares and a plethora of bird species await.

Culture enthusiasts, take a trip to meet semi-nomadic Mongol and Kazakh tribes. With a four-hundred-year presence in the region, they live from raising and hunting animals, out of respect for their traditions and customs.
