If you find yourself in the east of Canada, then you must stop over at Montebello. Put it this way - if, in 2007, the Canadian Prime Minister felt it was a suitable meeting place for the US and Mexican Presidents, then it must have been for a good reason. Once you've seen how pretty the town is, had a go at snowshoeing in winter and practised your golf swing in summer, you'll probably dream of a stay at Château Montebello the next time around.
Fortunately, Montebello has a lot to offer other than the Château/Hotel resort. It has a superb marina, a great cultural circuit and the famous Manoir-Papineau, a Canada Parks historic site, once home to a famous politician, Louis-Joseph Papineau. As you tour Quebec you may well hear the locals say, "Ce n’est pas la tête à Papineau!’’, which is their way of saying "No Problem!".
