Pindaya is well worth visiting for its natural caves that house hundreds of Buddha statues.
My suggestion:
Don't spend too much time in the town of Pindaya itself - it's small and nothing special. Head straight out to the caves that boast over 8,000 statues of Buddha.
My review
Pindaya is worth a stop if you're on the road to Kalaw or the magnificent Lake Inle. Pindaya is home to one of Burma's most beautiful caves and is a major Burmese pilgrimage site. If you have the time, it's worth visiting Pindaya and Kalaw on the way from Bagan to Lake Inle.
It's equally possible to trek across the tea plantations, where you'll come across Danu communities - the ethnic group that inhabits the Pindaya region. You can go on a day's trek or head out for three days/two nights in order to reach Kalaw. You'll need to hire a guide for the trek, as the trail is not signposted. And don't forget to visit the workshops that produce Shan paper parasols.
