A table-shaped mountain like the one in Cape Town, Morro do Pai Inácio is an essential place to see when staying in the Chapada Diamantina.

My suggestion:
Begin the ascent of Pai Inácio after 4:00 pm and wait at the summit for the sunset over the valley. It's sublime! However, come back down again before the sun drops below the horizon to avoid a descent in the dark.
My review

A mountain shaped like a table, Morro do Pai Ináciois is one of the leading places to visit in Chapada Diamantina (which is somewhere I consider an essential place to go to on any trip to Brazil). Getting to the top of it literally means climbing stones and rock. You therefore need to be in good physical shape before tackling it.

By sheer chance, it was late afternoon when I climbed it, so I therefore got to enjoy the delightful sunset from the mountain's summit.

To make it a little more fairytale-like, take a small picnic up with you and wait for the famous sunset in silence, lost in your thoughts.

A mountain that stands 1,100 meters high and the pride of Chapada Diamantina.

My suggestion:
Go there towards the end of the afternoon to see a spectacular sunset.
My review

The Chapada Diamantina is a little, green jewel in the heart of Bahia State, which despite being well known, has not as yet been invaded by tourists. It's greatest attraction, the Morro do Pai Inaciodefines its scenery - dry and green. It's a surprising discovery and stunningly beautiful. If you go to the highest plateau in the park, you'll find yourself in a rocky landscape, with a natural 'terrace' overlooking an amazing view of the valley below.

To get there, take a bus from Lençois, followed by an hours walk along a path that is mapped out. A lot of tours offer day trips to the Gruta Da Pratihna (a cave complete with crytal clear river in which you can swim), combined with a visit to Morro do Pai Inacio. Doing both in one day is a good idea, but even better if you go alone!

My visit to Morro do Pai Inacio (and, indeed, this little corner of Brazil) was one of my favorite memories from my trip. I highly recommend it - a magical adventure for you to add to your Brazil itinerary !
