Urtsadzor is a small town located at the edge of the Arafat Plain. It lies in the lower foothills of both the Gegham Mountains and Khosrov National Park. Standing guarding the entrance to the high Vedi valley, it serves as a place to stop and visit on the road from southern Armenia.

My suggestion:
Spend a night staying with a local resident in this town and enjoy the the best Armenian hospitality has to offer: simplicity and warm, human friendliness.
My review

Urtsadzor does not really have anything particularly unique or special to offer other than its traditional authenticity. This is a typical little Armenian town: houses with gardens lining its roads and surrounded by arid hills.

It does stand in a beautiful location however: a rural landscape of low mountain foothills. With the several family-run guesthouses and shops it contains, it also serves as a good base for ecotourism. As the starting point for treks into Khosrov National Park, Urtsadzor stands in a privileged location

An enjoyable hike to do, in my opinion, is the walk up the Vedi valley towards Gegham. The river gorges are both beautiful and wild. There are various sites of historical and archaeological interest located all around the town, with castle ruins, a cemetery and khachkars (Armenian cross-stones) just some of the things waiting to bring out the budding archaeologist.
