Venezuela's very modern but dangerous capital city.

My suggestion:
Avoid wandering the streets at night.
My review

This is definitely one of today's most dangerous cities. Caracas is the capital of Venezuela but it's also a city with one of the highest crime rates in the world. Here, the stories where someone is killed for 1 dollar aren't myths but are part of daily life.

I'd generally advise against travellers going to Caracas while they're on holiday in Venezuela, because although the city has some attractions and interesting things to do, particularly its nightlife, I personally think it's now far too dangerous.

Besides the insecurity, I don't have particularly good memories of Caracas, which is a rather modern and ugly city filled with shopping centres and huge slums, and which has almost no remains or traces of its past.
