Situated close to the Vesterålen, Lofoten and Senja isles, Harstad is a crossroads overlooked by tourists.

My suggestion:
A trip to Harstad for the town alone is not worth it, but a tour of the neighbouring archipelagos makes it worth the while.
My review

On Norway's edge, close to the Artic circle, Harstad, with a population of 25,000, is the 3rd largest municipality in northern Norway. I spent a day there, whilst on my way by ferry to the south of Senja Island. It gave me the chance to explore a typical Norwegian town that's not often visited by tourists.

There's something for everyone in Harstad, whether it be hikes around the surrounding peaks, cycling across the neighbouring archipelagos or cultural visits, namely the historic centre of Trondenes, Røkenes Farm or the Anna Rogde schooner. There's even the Grottebadet Waterpark, found under the caves.

In brief, Harstad is perfect for a trip off the beaten track, combined with a tour of the neighbouring archipelagos of Lofoten, Vesterålen, Senja.
