At first I thought Khorixas would be a good landing place as the town is not far from several important Damaraland sites. I had therefore reserved accommodation for the night practically in the town centre. I quickly regretted this for I found myself shut up behind the wall of the accommodation with no possibility of going out for security reasons. And it is true that in making my way through the town I did not find it welcoming.
Afterwards, I regretted not having booked in one of the surrounding farms, at peace in the middle of nowhere.
In Khorixas, apart from a camp hotel there is a petrol filling station, a supermarket and a bank. Except to fill up the petrol tank, I do not think the town is worth stopping at while on a trip to Namibia.
