Reviews of Walvis Bay

Located about nineteen miles from Swakopmund, Walvis Bay is a pleasant town, facing the sea, from where there are daily excursions to discover the coast and the local fauna.

My suggestion:
If you pass through Swakopmund while on your discovery of the Namibian coast and you have the time, a visit to Walvis Bay is very pleasant, especially for its boat excursions in the bay.
My review

My main visit while in Walvis Bay, was to embark on an excursion in the bay early in the day. The boat was not very big and I could move around easily to see the few seals having fun in the water, the many pink flamingos scattered on the esplanade as well as the seagulls that were flying over my head in search of a piece of fish, in general present on the port's other fishing boats.

For Walvis Bay is an important Namibian port . So we came across quite a few small ships on their way back from fishing. We also passed in front of a lighthouse and a totally rusted wreck. The visit then continued on land with a return along the coast and in the desert dunes bordering the area by 4x4.

What a super adventure that, to drive on never ending beaches or in the middle of golden dunes. By the way, I saw one or two fennecs, that was the best.
