Towns are rare in Namibia, but Grootfontein is one of three towns that form a triangle East of Etosha together with Otavi and Tsumeb. A town of passage when you are going towards Rundu and the Caprivi region, it serves mainly as a stopping place.

My suggestion:
A site that is worthy as a stop on the way to Caprivi but not just for itself.
My review

While on my trip to Namibia, I stopped briefly in Grootfontein on leaving Etosha and there is nothing exceptional about the town, as is often the case in Nambia. Take note that there is a museum with an recently shaped, immaculately white fortress.

Grootfontein mostly receives people passing through heading towards the North or tourists, come to admire the curiosity hereabouts, a 60 ton meteorite that is the largest piece of its kind to have ever been discovered. The Hoba meteorite is thus a large piece of stone that will appeal mostly to fans, to others I would say it is just a large stone! But if you are in the area, it does not cost you anything to go and have a look!
