Tizi Ousseum is a Berber village in the High Atlas Mountains, with a good gite! Its a stop on the way up to Toubkal. The view is spectacular, but I assure you that the path is not at all easy. Before entering the village, stand for a few moments in front of the zawiya in Sidi Oussem during your<a href="/morocco/"> trip to Morocco</a>; you'll recognise it by its immaculate white walls, and from there you have a beautiful view over the valley. From Tizi Oussem, the effects of the altitude can be felt: the ascents are steep. The distance between shelters increases to reach from 1 to 2 hours of walking. To reach the Toubkal shelter, plan for 4 to 6 hours of walking and as tiredness increases the path becomes more difficult.
