When the shared taxi came over the hill and started descending into the valley, Chefchaouen seemed to be an apparition! Enclosed in a valley and surrounded by the high mountains on whose slopes the city rests, Chefchaouen is—without a doubt—a true marvel to <a href="/morocco/">visit in Morocco</a>. Its labyrinth of alleys painted in blue (from the ground to the walls of the houses) will certainly calm you down and provide many opportunities for very photogenic pictures. It is not surprising that masses of tourists converge on this little city in northern Morocco.
Incidentally, in view of the number of tourists and backpackers who go there, it is difficult to imagine that the city was forbidden to Christians (under pain of death) and that the ban was only lifted at the beginning of the 20th century. A must-see stopping place during a trip to Morocco!
