Evaneos Travel Tales: video diary
By , on

To kick off the new year, we were delighted to invite nine travelers from around the world on a one-of-a-kind trip to discover South India. Our group of influencers hailed from seven countries: the United States, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Traveling from Mamallapuram to Cochin—via Tiruvannamalai, Auroville, Puducherry, Munnar, and Allepey—we explored the region with local heroes Charles and Prithvi as our guides.
Our goal? To shine the light on a different kind of tourism. One that seeks to prioritize cultural insight as well as just the big sights, one that values local expertise over the well-trodden track, and above all one that leaves a positive impact on local communities.
Follow our adventure through the eyes of Eric, Léa, Hugo, Erea, Gianluca, Valeria, Adi, Beatrice, and Roos below. We’ll be adding new episodes each week.

Episode 1
Our journey began in Tamil Nadu. The first three days were a whirlwind: we were welcomed with a ceremony in a village temple, visited Mamallapuram's UNESCO-listed monuments, took a South Indian cooking class, discovered the utopian community of Auroville, and arrived in Puducherry just in time to catch the sunset.

Episode 2
The fourth and fifth days of our trip gave us the chance to learn more about religion and culture in South India. We explored the countryside around Kumbakonam, visited some of Chettinad’s most beautiful temples, and immersed ourselves in city life in Madurai.
