Banias is one of Israel's most beautiful natural reserves. However, few foreign tourists go there because it is relatively far away from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. But I really recommend nature lovers to go there because the site is completely beautiful and very well managed. In fact, there is a suspended wooden bridge that has been built over a gorge that leads to the waterfalls. The park has four relatively easy walks. 3 of them last for about 45 minutes and the 4th for about 90 minutes. If you want to see the falls at their most spectacular then you need to go in winter or spring because snow melt from Mount Hermon increases the flow of water to the falls. Personally, I visited in summer and I have to say that the vegetation along the gorge and the river was particularly refreshing. I was also surprised to see that the falls were not at all dry. There are also Greek and Roman ruins on the site. What with its luxuriant greenery and architectural heritage, I have to say that during my <a href="/israel/">trip to Israel</a> I really fell in love with Banias.
