The temple situated at the foot of the volcano is soothing. Lost in the middle of nowhere (a dense forest not far from town), it's in a lush, humid environment, which only lends to the mystical feel of the place.
If you take a walk here, you'll get lost in your own, little world and feel the sense of calm as you make the most of its quiet. It doesn't attract a lot of visitors, which only adds to the mood. This temple encourages introspection.
What's more I loved the journey to Pura Luhur Batukaru from Ubud. The mountain views and rice fields were stunning, even if typical of Bali.
An interesting fact: it's one of nine directional temples in Bali, its function being to protect the island
