A small Indonesian town, Cianjur is near Jakarta and off the beaten track. It is a good introduction to the rural side of the country.

My suggestion:
Stay with the locals! It will give you an idea of local life, a good guide to show you round the area and you will enjoy an extraordinary experience!
My review
In this town I slept in a local home. I was very warmly welcomed and the mother of my host cooked tasty little dishes! His house was in a small neighbourhood of town where everyone lives together: you eat in one another's home and each adult keeps a discreet eye on the neighbour's child, etc... One big family!

Off the beaten track travel enthusiasts , this town is really made for you!
My host took me to see a floating village, rubber and tea plantations, I went on a mountain bike hike (careful, very physical!), saw rice fields, ate in the street, watched a blues concert, attended a birthday and the customs that go with it... In short, a wonderful experience!
The floating village has more than 10 000 inhabitants!
