The town of Parrita is a canton in Costa Rica's Puntarenas Province and serves as a transit point between Quepos and Jaco.

My suggestion:
Visit and explore La Cangreja National Park and surrounding area, to the north of Parrita, to discover a less tourist-oriented yet no less impressive and astonishing part of Costa Rica.
My review

I spent a night in the town of Parrita, which as far as I was concerned was just somewhere to stop at on my journey. And with good reason: Parrita is located halfway between Quepos and Jacó.

Nevertheless, when in Parrita you do have the possibility of spending time relaxing on the beach at Palo Seco or getting out into the greenery at Rainmaker Park, which is home to an abundance of fauna and flora and has a very important nature conservation program in place.

If you have enough time, I recommend a trip to Cangraja National Park, a few kilometers to the north of Parrita, and a visit to explore the permaculture farms located around the village of Mastatal. It's an ideal place for for fans of off-the-beaten-track tourism.
