Serranía de la Macarena is a small chain of mountains that reach a height of 1,600 metres at their highest point. The range stands at the heart of Serranía de la Macarena National Park.

My suggestion:
Visit the park between July and November if possible, when the weather is at its best.
My review

Serranía de la Macarena is a small range of mountains located in the Colombian department of Meta. At their highest point they reach a height of 1,600 metres.

Though difficult to get to and not very tourist-oriented at all, Serranía de la Macarena National Park is actually a quite beautiful place and the plants and wildlife here are protected. The park's star attraction is Caño Cristales, which is also known as the "River of Five Colours". This jumble of waterfalls, rivers and streams displays all the colours of the rainbow due to the presence of an aquatic plant (Macarenia clavigera) and is definitely one of the places to see in Colombia. The spectacle is impossible to describe; you really have to travel to Colombia and see it for yourself to believe it! Bathing in the multicoloured waters here is an absolutely delightful experience.
