Zipaquira is a colonial city located in the Bogotá metropolitan area, known for its Salt Cathedral.

My suggestion:
A visit to Zipaquira is a perfect day trip from Bogotá.
My review

During your trip to Colombia, if you want a little excursion that's perfect to get away from the madness of Bogotá, Zipaquira is without a doubt the right choice. Just 30 miles from Bogotá, it’s easy to get there by train or bus.

I had the bad luck of finding myself in a torrential downpour and was only able to see the beautiful historic city centre. Fortunately, the rain won't stop you from visiting the incredible Salt Cathedral, in the city's highlands. You can spend several hours exploring this expansive complex and all its nooks and crannies, with a guide and then on your own. However, I was very disappointed, by the LED lighting and souvenir shops right there in the cathedral, which make the place too kitschy and touristy.
