Even the name Macau makes you think of far away places, a world apart. And for good reason, as the town was a Portuguese colony for a long time and became a Special Administrative Region of China in 1999.

My suggestion:
Try not to stay in Macau on Friday and Saturday nights because room prices go up and the wait can be very long.
My review

Macau is the result of a blend of China and the West which has made is absolutely unique.

Although the first thing we think about when we hear the name (and which is confirmed once you get there!) is "enormous buildings and casino-hotels" - it has long eclipsed Las Vegas and Monte Carlo - Macau has other charms. You can start with its colonial architecture, paved alleys dotted with Chinese temples and baroque churches, pretty parks and beaches and a historic center that is classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Macau's special history is also reflected in its food: nowhere else on the continent will you find such a mix of flavors - Asian, European, Latin American and even African.
