Liuzhou is the 2nd biggest city in the province of Guangxi, in the extreme south of China, on the border with Vietnam.

My review

With more than 2,000 years of history, the town has been known by various names, like Tanzhong and then Longcheng, before it acquired its current name.

Nowadays it is a big industrial city, whose airport is connected to all the biggest cities in the country.

The city center can easily be visited on foot. Liuhou and Longtan parks are well worth a visit for a little rest surrounded by greenery. Another nearby place for an outing is Dalongtang Scenic Resort.

The countryside around Liuzhou is made up of low hills, mountainous peaks, and weathered rock grottoes. I recommend two trips: to the regions of Dayao Shan and Sanjiang, where the Dong minority live and which are scattered with superb traditional villages.
