Huangyo, located in Guangxi Province in the extreme south of China, is an ancient town that was founded in 927 and enjoyed its heyday during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). It attained its present form in the 18th century.

My suggestion:
Don't miss the chance to tour the area round Huangyao. The natural environment it offers, with its hills, streams and caves, makes it an idyllic place.
My review

With its miraculously preserved heritage, this ancient village offers a timeless, traditionally authentic and enchanting atmosphere to visitors. Huangyo's glorious past makes it a place that lovers of history and architecture will find fascinating, just like the Chinese and foreign filmmakers attracted here by the uniqueness of the landscape and setting.

The ancient center of the village has residential houses, steles, calligraphy and huge doors all around it, and its streets still have their original slate paving. The characteristic houses feature brick-colored walls and black-blue tiles. There are also around 30 temples, pavilions and ancient halls to be found in the village.
