Situated on the southeastern border of Guizhou Province, near to Guangxi, the Dong village of Tang'an is the perfect cultural and natural stopover for anyone interested in China's minority populations.

My review

Surrounded by green-clad mountains, in the heart of terraced rice fields, it gazes over the Zhaoxing Valley.

Constructed around a series of staircases, its patchwork of agricultural land produces a variety of crops. The village of Tang'an has a pretty paved center, a drum tower and the Dong Ethnic Eco-museum. But the real museum is the village itself. It's a great place for those of you interested in meeting its ethnic residents to learn more about their daily lives and traditions.

Heading out of Tang'an, you'll find some excellent hikes that cross the hills and rice fields, leading you to surrounding villages. One gem you shouldn't miss is Zhaoxing !
