The modern world seems a million miles away. Men and women stick to hand-made traditional costumes with hairstyles to match their custom. Homes are wood-built using traditional techniques, each retaining its own, special charm.
Even if tourist numbers have increased, Basha has managed to keep its soul and authenticity in place. For most of its inhabitants, it's the birthplace of the Miao ethnic minority. The people are lovely - you'll be welcomed by singing, dancing, a glass of Sake and even be invited to their fully armed welcoming ceremonies - Basha men are the only non- law enforcement/military personnel in China allowed to carry arms!
