The Miao village of Langde is in the region of Kaili, in the heart of Guizhou province. Nestling in green hills between rice paddies and forests, the village is on the banks of the river Bala.

My suggestion:
In the evening, when the visitors have left, Langde becomes quiet again. That's the ideal time to breath in its atmosphere and go meet the locals.
My review

From its wooden houses on the hillsides to the women in traditional costume via the shows and welcome ceremonies, a stay in Langde is a good introduction to Miao culture and traditions.

Not as big as Xijiang, (the biggest Miao village in the world), Langde was one of the first ethnic villages to open to visitors. Despite that, and the recent passage of the Olympic torch on its way to the Beijing games of 2008, it is still charming.
