Its name means 'precious sun' in Chinese, as its rays rarely penetrate the thick clouds and mist. Guiyang is also sometimes called 'Zhu', after a musical instrument it once produced.
In Guiyang, you'll find temples and ancient quarters next to skyscrapers and modern complexes, giving the town an unsual character. Nonetheless, being on a mountainous plateau, surrounded by rivers and forests, the town remains nature oriented.
Take the time to visit Guiyang's stunning sights as well as those in its vicinity - the Hongfu Temple, Jiaxiu Pavillion, Huaxi Park, Lake Hongfeng as well as the Kaiyang Nanjiang Canyon Park.
