My review

A melting pot that blends Miao, Buyi and Gelao minorities. The cross-cultural influences are apparent in its architecture, festivals and local dishes.

Main attractions are its proximity to the largest waterfall in China (at 45km), as well as several cave complexes, canyons and the historic town of Tianlong Tunbao. The Huangguoshu Waterfall (which translates as 'Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall) are the biggest cascades in Asia and are found along the Baishui River. Photographers amongst you: note that the colors change depending on which of the three watchtowers you use.

At thirty minutes by road, you'll find the Longgong or 'Dragon Palace' Buddhist caves. The cave comes complete with a stunning underground waterfall! You'll be blown away by the stalamites and stalagtites, not to mention the natural pools and setting.

Being an ancient village, Tianlong Tunbao has picturesque paved lanes and wonderful Ming Dynasty architecture - a real step back in time.
