The Maling River is famous for its amazing gorges. It's a must-see if you're touring the southwest of Guizhou.

My review

Situated on the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, near to the town of Xingyi, the Maling River Gorge will blow you away. Majestic waterfalls, caves, rocky peaks, lush forest...all to the thundering sound of cascading water.

You can go kayaking, rafting or give your legs a work out by hiking around the caves. Whatever you choose, you'll have an unforgettable time. In the lower part of the gorge you'll find the Wanfeng Forest and Lake - well worth the detour! Also called the 'Ten-Thousand-Peak Forest', it's a series of sharp peaks and ponds that stretch towards the horizon.

If you're in the Xingyi region, make sure you visit the local Buyi and Miao villages ; you'll meet interesting people, learn more about their daily lives and discover their traditions.
