Weishan Yi and Hui Autonomous County is located around sixty kilometers south of Dali City, in Yunnan Province.

My review

It contains several cultural and natural sites of major interest, making it one of the most interesting places to visit when staying in southern China.

Cradle of the Kingdom of Nanzhao and its first capital, the ancient city of Weishan contains superb preserved architecture and buildings dating from the Ming and Qing dynasties. This fortified city, Yunnan's "State of Literature", has four gates, each located at one of the four cardinal points, and two emblematic towers: Gongchen Tower and Xinggong Tower. The site of Weibaoshan not far away – a Taoist mountain that is home to rare species and is dotted with temples – is another place worth visiting.

The Weishan region is also famous for its local arts and crafts, especially the production of fabrics dyed using a technique particular to the region, and for its agricultural products (meat, fruits, herbs and spices, etc.).
