Siutated in Chong Qing Province, in Central China, Dazu is home to cave sculptures that, in 1999, were classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

My review

Hidden away in the region's mountains, the stunning Dazu carvings form one of the country's most famous sites.

Art and Chinese history fans will love these relics from the past. Dating from the 12th to 13th Centuries, these Song Dynasty works represent the Golden Age of Chinese cave art.

Take your time when you visit - it's worth every minute! 50,000 statues are spread across 5 mountains and 75 sites. Finely chiseled, diverse in subject, they're an impressive representation of Chinese daily life and make Dazu a unique and fascinating place to visit.
