Wuxi (China)

It is divided in two by Lake Taihu and crossed by the Grand Canal. With all this water around you can go on a cruise or walk around the numerous flower gardens. The best are Li, Meiyuan and Xihui.

Taihu Xiandao is a group of islands with houses and modern towers, which is worth the detour because of its numerous pagodas, grottoes and caverns. With a bit of luck you will see monkeys in the trees!

The peninsula of "Turtle Head Island" (Guittouzhu) is also an interesting site. It's inspired numerous Chinese painters and poets over the years.

To the west of the town, in Yixing, you can visit the incredible "Bamboo Sea".
