The wonderful Dong district of Sanjiang is in the north of the autonomous region of Guanxi, about 200 kilometers north-west of Guilin and 65 km to the west of Longsheng.

My review

Its name literally means "three rivers", which refers to the three rivers, Xunjiang, Rongjiang, and Miaojiang, which cross it.

More than half of the population belong to the Dong people, which makes Sanjiang the biggest autonomous ethnic district. So it's a good opportunity for visitors to get to know the way of life and traditions of the Dong.

An unmissable stop during your stay, the spectacular Chengyang bridge - one of the most impressive of the Rain and Wind bridges in Dong country - is easy to get to from Sanjiang. Not far away, Butan bridge and Mapan drum tower are also among the most beautiful Dong buildings in the region. Finally, there are innumerable different walks you can do with a local guide so you can discover the surrounding villages.
