During my year abroad in Canada I was lucky enough to spend seven months living in the Yukon (and Whitehorse therefore). Whitehorse is the territory's largest city, which means it's a place you have to go to in order to purchase supplies and prepare for your future trips: you don't visit Yukon specifically to see Whitehorse: it's simply a place you pass through when there! In summer, I took advantage of the midnight sun to celebrate the longest day of the year at the summer solstice. In winter, I marvelled at the spectacle of the aurora borealis whilst bathing in a hot spring (even though the air temperature was actually -20°C!). Finally, I advise you to have a vehicle at your disposal: it would be a real pity if your experience of Yukon were to be limited just to Whitehorse, no matter how nice it may be!
