Capital of the Greater Poland region, Poznań is one of the country's largest cities and also one of its nicest.

My suggestion:
At the main square there is a monument to the victims of the 1956 Poznań workers' uprising, which was brutally put down by the communist regime, resulting in the loss of 70 lives.
My review

A city of 500,000 inhabitants, Poznań is a place I particularly enjoyed visiting. The city centre here is simply wonderful, especially its completely cobbled main square with its little Baroque houses in all their various colours. You can find locals and tourists congregated in the lively bars and cafes here at all times of day.

This is what I adored about Poznań: its fundamentally lively and dynamic student atmosphere. It seems to have its own very particular character and feel, which makes it a very enjoyable place in which to spend an extended amount of time. Lively during the day and festive in the evening, Poznań is in my opinion one of the essential places to see when travelling around western Poland, especially with the city containing so many museums as well as historic and religious sites: enough to keep you occupied for at least a few days.
