On the slopes of the Carpathians, at the very heart of Eastern Europe, lies Krynica-Zdrój, a town famous throughout Poland for its large number of thermal spas. Its mineral waters have therapeutic benefits for a range of medical conditions and have been famous since the 19th century.
Despite its reputation and its exceptional natural location in the Carpathians, Krynica was not one of the places I enjoyed visiting the most in Poland. I found the town disappointing due to the fact that there is not much to do there if you don't happen to be a fan of thermal cures and simply resting and relaxing.
The one thing I do remember from my visit is discovering the work of an incredible painter: Nikifor Krynicki. The town contains a museum, with a blue facade, that takes you through the work he produced over his lifetime, and that was somewhere I really enjoyed visiting.
