There are loads of tourist attractions on Mactan island , although the hoards of people and heavy traffic weren't my cup of tea. I stopped there on my way to the airport (the Philippines' second largest). To the north you find Cebuairport with flights to the island. To the east you'll find transport links to neighbouring islands alongside a selection of touristy hotels. 
You'll also find the only aquarium in the Visayas region. The island has numerous activities on offer, including diving, snorkelling, jet-skiing and sailing. 
In other words this island has all the typical activities found in the Philippines, but was too superficial and crowded for my tastes. It could be a good option for travellers who are only in the country for a short time.
