I had the opportunity to pass through Llatica during a 3 day trek in the enormous Colca Canyon, after discovering the charming village of <a href="/peru/">Fure</a>. More than 3,400m deep, the Colca Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world after the Cotahuasi Canyon.
If you decide to go for the magnificent hike in the fertile valleys of the Arequipa region, you'll need to be physically fit. Indeed, the drops are very big in the Colca Canyon and can sometimes reach 1,000m! Be careful with problems with calves, knees and the company... Of course, people who suffer from vertigo should refrain from doing it.
Over the course of 3 days, we took the routes used daily by the local population and immersed ourselves amongst the Indians at the top of Andean plateau. On the agenda: local encounters, green valleys and gorges, terrace crops, cactus deserts, remote villages, geysers, natural hot pools... It goes without saying that we came across llamas and alpacas on the way!
