It's a perfect place for a rest when traveling between the west coast and Blenheim, so take advantage of a stop in Nelson to recharge your batteries, as travel in New Zealand often involves long distances.
A town where life is good, close to Abel Tasman and Nelson Lakes National Parks.
My suggestion
Stay for a few days to make the most of Nelson's surrounds. Don't forget your insect repellent, the sand flies are annoying critters, both day and night...
