With the white, sandy beaches around Lake Taupo on the Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato is a region not to be missed during a trip to New Zealand.

My suggestion:
Lose yourself on Coromandel Peninsula's roads and enjoy discovering deserted beaches!
My review

If I have to choose one word to describe the Waikato region it's the word 'diverse'. From Coromandel's heavenly beaches to the snow-capped mountains in Taupo, the region of Waikato has a landscape that is beautifully contrasting.

Here's a personal list of my favorite sights and sounds...sit under a sky lit by the glow worms at Waitomo Cave, be part of Tolkein's adventures by visiting Hobbiton with its little houses, colored doors and rolling hills, take a hike to the 153 meter high Wairere Falls, soak in Spa Park's hot waters, get blown away by the Maori carvings at Lake Taupo, laze on Coromandels beaches, wind your way around its roads and finish up by watching the sun go down at Opito Bay...
