In the east of Georgia, on the fronier with Azerbaijan, is Vachlovani National Park, with its magnificent wild landscapes and deserts.

My suggestion:
As the park is quite isolated and difficult to get to, and there are few houses around it, camping is the best solution if you want to explore it.
My review

Vachlovani National Park has lots of surprises, especially its landscape which is not necessarily something you would expect to see if you have already travelled a little in Georgia! I had got used to magnificent mountains, green hills, and beautiful wooded plains, certainly nothing like the desert landscapes that you can see in the national park.

The park's steppes have sparse vegetation, lacerated rocks and lots of canyons caused by erosion. Despite being desert the region has some impressive wildlife and they have even seen a leopard in the park. Altogether a national park with breathtaking scenery which is a destination that is off the beaten path in Georgia!
