What to put in your suitcase when travelling in China

Packing your suitcase before going to an unknown country can be really difficult, which is why I am going to try to help you prepare with a clear explanation - no more Chinese whispers! It all depends on what kind of tourist you want to be on your trip to China. We are therefore going to try to be as general as possible so that you can change your mind once you're there without having to change your whole wardrobe (even if China can be a good place to do so). In any case, we recommend you take a good first aid kit.

Next, comfortable, light clothing which dries quickly will be very useful to ensure a good trip. Finally, any good traveller will surely do a lot of walking, so make sure you have some good quality shoes. Girls should be advised that tampons are quite hard to find and rather expensive (depending on where you are, of course), so be prepared and have plenty with you. There are several different types of plug socket in China, so get an adaptor to make sure you are always ready.

Things to remember before setting off:

  1. A very well stocked first aid kit
  2. Sunglasses and sun cream
  3. Insect repellent
  4. Light and fast-drying clothing
  5. A camera so that you always remember your trip
  6. Comfortable walking shoes
  7. A plug adaptor
  8. Tampons (difficult to find and expensive)
