During my <a href="/canada/">many trips to Canada</a> I've had the opportunity to explore any different sections of the Inside Passage - and I've never been disappointed! The most northerly stretch, between Skagway and Haines, offers stunning views and is an acceptable alternative for those who can't do the entire trip (or can't do so). It can be nice to press on as far as Juneau, the capital of Alaska, which is not served by any land-based road. Choosing to navigate the entire length of the Inside Passage means giving yourself time to admire the view. I remember the long hours spent admiring the sky, watching the waves while trying to spot dolphins or whales and, once night had fallen, trying to fall asleep by counting the stars in the night sky over the Last Frontier State. The Inside Passage is an alternative destination that is perfectly suited for travel as a family and I recommend it to people who dislike spending time on the highway and/or those who prefer being on a boat to being on land.
