Patacamaya is an uninteresting town located around 60 miles from La Paz.

My suggestion:
If you want to get to Sajama from La Paz, you'll first need to go to Patacamaya then change buses. This is the only reason to come here when visiting Bolivia.
My review

The Cordillera Real, the Potosi mines, Sucre, the Salar d'Uyuni salt flat, the lakes of Sud Lipez, Amboro and Madidi national parks, Lake Titicaca, Copacabana, Isla del Sol, La Paz, the Carnival of Oruro, the city of Tarija … Bolivia is simply full of wonderful places to see and visit. There are, however, exceptions to the rule!

Patacamaya is a small town of around 22,000 inhabitants located 60 miles southeast of La Paz. It serves mainly as somewhere you have to go to get to other places when visiting Bolivia. In fact there is actually no direct bus service you can take if you want to reach the town of Sajama from La Paz. You therefore have to get off at Patacamaya and catch a second bus on to Sajama. Tip: don't spend any time in the town but instead simply continue on your way; the treasures of Bolivia await you!
