Laguna Pampalarama is a mountain lake and a key area for outdoor sports and activities located around 12.5 miles north of La Paz.

Pampalarama is the ideal place to go if you are looking to practise water sports and activities.
My review
Visiting the La Paz area but have neither the time nor the inclination to go trekking in the Cordillera Real mountains? However, think a spot of physical, outdoor activity would be nice? I have just the solution for you!
Just 45 minutes to the north of La Paz by car is Laguna Pampalarama, a mountain lake located at an altitude of 14,100ft. The lake is surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Real, and there are various outdoor activities you can do both in and around it: cycling and horse riding, sailing, fishing, rock climbing … Simply choose whichever activity you are most interested in doing!
This beautiful place is also home to a hostel specialising in ecotourism, and which belongs to Chacaltaya's indigenous community.
