Paul had wanted to go to Vietnam for years (I didn't...until I researched the incredible scenery). There's no way we could have coordinated such an incredible trip by ourselves. Our agent in Vietnam was excellent.
The best parts:
The guides and the drivers—fantastic. (I don't know how much they're getting paid, but they deserve raises...just because they're the best representatives of Vietnam.) We also REALLY appreciated being on three boat rides by ourselves—that was a nice surprise (bird sanctuary and caves in Ninh Binh) and the Mekong Delta. Our guide insisted we do the nighttime Hanoi Vespa tour and we're SO HAPPY that she did. We had a great time on it, and it was so well-organized. We also enjoyed our rickshaw ride in Hanoi...what a great way to see the French Quarter and the perfect end to a day tour...
The worst parts:
The weather. We were surprised it was so misty in Hanoi (only because we came from the same crappy weather in Seattle!). You can't control that, so there really were no worst parts.

Please see above for the feedback I gave to our local agent here in Vietnam. Excellent to quality service. I have included a few recommendations and suggestions but overall very good and well planned
The best parts:
Hi Huyen, A very happy New year to you your family and all the staff at Absolutely Asia. Firstly many thanks for organising a great trip, we have had a wonderful time. I always take the time to get back to your operators how things were, good or bad, so here goes. Arrival in *********, very good Son was there to meet us as we came out of arrivals, and help us with check in at the hotel. Hanoi**************, as I told you previously we were not very impressed. It is being refurbished so there was a lot of noise in the corridor outside our room in the afternoon we arrived and the roof top bar was not open again due to refurb work. Position wise it was great, as were the staff and the breakfast was very good. ******************* hotel, beautiful. Excellent room, great outlook, when the fog lifted. Very enjoyable tours with Son. Good food and the staff were very helpful and always smiling. ***************** hotel, we were not impressed with this one. It's very rundown and in need of updating, it's is in a great position for the local attraction and the view was wonderful but there is nothing to do in the evening ( possibly because of TET most places were shut ). I think it would have been better to stay in the city, in a better quality hotel and where there is more to do at the end of the day. Son was very good taking us up the 500 steps to the viewing point and to the sampan tour, he organised everything very well. **************** at Ha Long bay, absolutely wonderful. Faultless in every way, they looked after us from the minute we arrived until we got in the car to return to our Ha Long hotel. The food was amazing the activities were great fun the boat was 5* in every way. The hotel in***************** is good, nice and modern, lovely room, massive bed . We are only herr for one night and it's a nice place. The hotel staff were not as welcoming as they could be, when we arrived, but I expect that is because not many can talk English so it is difficult for them. In respect to Son the guide and Son the driver, they have been great, very helpful and courteous, lots of fun to be with and informative. One comment I would make is that when clients are in and area where the weather is bad, as it was in Pu Luong and Ninh Binh, rather than taking the clients back to their hotel it would be good if after completing the planned activities, the guide offered to take clients to see or do something in the local area. In these places there was nothing to do, once we dropped off at the hotels, so it was a little boring. But overall it was a wonderful experience we will have lots of great memories and endless photos to show our friends and family, many thanks to you and ask your staff for putting the trip together for us. We will certainly recommend using your company to are friends of they visit Vietnam. Regards, Peter and Elaine,

This has been a good trip designed to add on to another tour provided by someone else. The highlights were the time at Halong Bay and in Hoi An, but that's because we like smaller places. Hanoi and HCM are very busy!
The best parts:
Everything worked as promised! Guides all exceptional!
The worst parts:
Nothing to dislike, really! The tour in HCM city was a bit curtailed as the Cathedral is under repair, but that happens!

We traveled North to South Vietnam for 21 days. We learned a lot about history, wars and conflicts, religions, food and agriculture. We were a group of 10 people, family and friends. It rolled smoothly without any reasons to stress or fight. The guides were well aware of the rythme of the group. We particularly enjoyed the activities in the North. The train to Nonkai and the villages we Also the trip on the Mekong. We ended in a beautiful place on Phu Quoc island.
The best parts:
The design and preparation for the trip with travel agency Transportation Quality of the guides Hotels as expected Opportunities to contact and live with people The well balanced activities (cities/country, museums/culture, physical/intellectual, etc.)
The worst parts:
Some time the schedule was too full. Lunch time was often too late. The bad location of the hotel in Sapa.

It was a private guided tour so we had no problems finding or getting to things. Or first guided tour but not out last. For sure a convenient way to tour.
The best parts:
Mekong River, Ha Long Bay, Marble Mountain and all the day and night street markets. What fun.
The worst parts:
War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.

We went from vibrant HCMC (Saigon) in the south to the thrilling capital of Hanoi in the north on this two week tour. We went through colourful fishing villages and mountains cloaked in jungle. We spent some time at the vast shoreline of white sandy beaches in An Bang, stopped and shopped at the ancient trading port of Hoi An. Went to My Son sanctuary. Saw Ba Na Hills, ascend the Hai Van Pass, by driving along those twisting coastal roads. Explored Hue. Cruised the Halong Bay and enjoyed the spectacular limestone formations. We finished in Hanoi, this city contains many beautiful old buildings and the atmosphere is completely different from Ho Chi Min City.
The best parts:
Hoi An and the scenic drive along the Hải Vân Pass.
The worst parts:
- guide in Ho Chi Min City (she was not local, and didn't speak well English not was able to provided background information). - ba na hills (is more of game attraction park then an old French colonial resort village)

Dear Ly, and Evaneos, I see from your e-mails that you are eagerly awaiting feedback. You will understand that it took me some time, because I wanted to give you a very detailed, constructive feedback, as below. Overall, this was the best organised trip of the three we have undertaken with Evaneos. Everything went very smoothly, according to plan. Your choice of hotels and excursions was excellent. Your drivers are superb, not only can they navigate the horrible traffic safely, they often also act as guides (so much so, that sometimes a guide was not necessary). So, we would definitively recommend your services to others, and would travel with you again. I now give you feedback for every day, and then finish with some recommendations regarding your guides. Please take them as constructive critique, and not as complaints, as we loved the trip! Day 1: Meet and greet: Wherever we were met by a guide/driver: They were VERY punctual, helpful and reliable. Day 2: For us, it was nearly essential to have a free day in Saigon after the long flight. Your choice of apartment was good, there were cooking facilities, the staff was very helpful, and there was a little shop opposite, so we could buy things for breakfast. Apropos breakfast: You offered us to book breakfast at this hotel for $10 (and said that was a good deal)– however, the breakfast, if paid directly at the hotel, only cost 170.000 dong, which is about 7 dollar, so they offered you quite an expensive deal. There were no shops around the hotel, which was a disadvantage, but – your clients might want to know – there is a nice seafood restaurant, Yo’s, just beside the hotel. Staff at the hotel was nice, we could leave our luggage in their store room, when we went on tours. Free water and sweets in the room, basic kitchen, comfortable bed, well functioning air conditioning, nice pool – good place! Day 3: Cu Chi by speed boat. Very good excursion, so nice to approach by river, and the timing was very clever, too: We arrived, when the morning bus trip tourists were just leaving, and before the afternoon ones arrived. The food was all right, but nothing special. The tunnels were very interesting, I am glad we did this trip. Day 4-7, Nam Cat Tien Very nice trip. With regard to the lodge, which you had some concerns about, here is what I will post to Tripadvisor: Well, this is a LODGE, not a hotel. All the lodges I have stayed in in different continents, all share the same problems: As they are, by definition, far away from civilisation, they do not have facilities like constant electricity, all the food has to be ‘imported’, the staff has to live on situ, and there are all kinds of nice and not so nice animals around – and there is very little competition. That means, you have to do with less comfortable conditions, while the price is quite high. Also, all the animals you WANT to see, may not be around on the day you visit… If you do not like that, you should book into a deluxe hotel and watch a David Attenborough video – you will be cool, not insects around, guaranteed great animal viewing, full minibar and maybe even cheaper… For nature crazies like me, I loved this place. This lodge has hot water for showering available all day, now and then there is electricity for the fridge, the fan and even air conditioning (maybe that’s why they call it ‘luxury’, which is a bit , well…), and amazing food. It was clean, and the staff was very nice. We saw one hornbill, king fishers and some monkeys, and we heard the frightening obscene sound of the Tokay lizard all night (you won’t believe it, listen to it: https://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t-s&p=tokay+lizard+call#id=2&vid=49610b37a2a402752263b223a567ad17&action=click You do not really need to book a tour, you can easily find tracks to walk all around, and you can rent a bike to go further away. However, the boat trip is really nice. We loved it! As said above, we did not need the bicycle tour, or we did not need to be accompanied by a guide – but we had two! Further, for people at our age, the road to cycle on was a bit uneven and stony, and we in the end, we were afraid to fall, and stopped the tour. The boat trip was lovely, though we do not know why we needed TWO guides AND a very knowledgeable boatman. However, there were no swimming snakes or civets, and only one macaque - so maybe you should not promise too much in order not to create disappointment. You were afraid that we would get bored spending there so long – nope. Could have stayed longer! Day 8: Free day. Went to the War Museum, perfectly fine without a guide. Day 9: Hoi An: Smooth transfer. C*** B**** H****. Again, my Tripadvisor comment: Nice and quiet hotel with large rooms and balcony, and a lovely pool. A bit far away from downtown, but taxis are cheap. This is obviously a hotel for bus trip guest, and the staff is a bit nonchalant. There could be 5 waiters standing around in a corner during breakfast, while the tables needed cleaning, or the coffee needed to be refilled. However, punctually at 5 to 10am they appear at your table to tell you that breakfast is now closing. And at 2 past 10 pm they refuse to serve you a Happy Hour drink. On checking out, the lady at the reception yelled at me that a bottle of water had disappeared from our mini-bar… They do provide free water bottles in the room, and we left about three of them in the fridge, so we must have accidently drank one of the not-free waters. She treated me as a thief, though I did not even argue, but paid the 0.60 cent for the missing bottle… One exception was the very friendly waiter in the bar, whose name I have forgotten unfortunately, but he makes the best Long Island Tea I had, and served us in a very friendly way. Food is very westernised and quite blend, after what we had for breakfast, we decided to not have dinner there, but in the many places downtown. Day 10: Nice guide for the sight-seeing in Hoi Ann, but not really necessary, we could have done that on our own. When she understood that we were horrified by the traffic, she wisely decided that we would NOT take the bikes to the herb village, but we got a lift by car. Nice visit, seeing the rice fields and the herbs, the host was lovely, and we did like the lunch! Day 11: On our own, and busy enough by looking at tailors. You were right with your suggestion of Yaly being the best tailor (the local guide brought us there on day 10), but… he is even a bit too good for us. He is the choice for classy costumes and expensive outfits, but I only wanted some lovely summer dresses. So we found “Charming” just nearby the night market, and got enough clothes made to be forced to buy a suitcase on the night market as well! Day 12: Bamboo raft. This was one of the best ideas you had! It was a lovely, romantic afternoon/evening with wonderful food under the stars in the middle of the river. What a surprise – we loved it!!! Day 13: Nice drive over the pass. We stopped at Tien Hieu 3, for a short stop…. Now, it happens that we have already been looking for a marble table at home for months, and here it was, perfect! So we spent longer than intended, haggling wildly. In the end we paid 3000 US dollars for a table inclusive shipping to Spain. We are not sure, this is a good price, and of course we have not received the table yet, so we are a bit anxious. If there will be any problems, we will let you know, so that you know whether to recommend them in the future or not. H*** H***P*** V****, my Tripadvisor comments: Lovely hotel in relaxing surroundings, with flowers and ponds, breakfast at the pondside, with lots of colourful butterflies flying around. Large and warm pool to indulge in, and VERY attentive staff. Food and drinks are very expensive, though – so dare to cross the street in front of the hotel, where you will find a small restaurant with outdoor seating, with really good, inexpensive food, Vietnamese wine (Dalat, at least as good as the foreign wines served at the hotel, and less than half the price), and Ha’s banana pancake, which is the best I have ever eaten! If you need some bed-night drink, the supermarket a the side has Vietnamese wodka and soft drinks to mix it with in your hotel room. Day 14: Hue Sightseeing. The Imperial City is beautiful, I could have stayed there for hours, and maybe would have liked to see a performance in the opera house. Unfortunately, we never got the lunch nor anything else on the banks of the river, that you promised, but continued immediately to the garden house (which was nice, a pagoda and the Minh Mang Tomb. That was a little bit too much in the heat for our age and without a rest – we gave up halfway, when we encountered yet another flight of stairs to climb and asked to be taken back to the hotel and the pool. Day 15: Cooking class. Excellent choice again. The teacher was lovely, we enjoyed to see a small local market, and then prepare the food at her lovely place. So much better than to do this in a group. Absolutely recommend this course!!!! Lagoon excursion: Also very lovely. We were so tired from the morning, we nearly skipped this, but are so happy we did not. We did not learn a lot about the lifestyles of the inhabitants of the stilt houses as you promised, but the sunset compensated for this. Day 16: Smooth transport to Saigon. Day 17: Particularly nice driver, who stopped en route for photo occasions, and pointed out some rice workers for us. Smooth. Day 17 – 19: Mekong Delta Cruise. Superb (I am glad we booked the expensive one with only 2 cabins). Very good food, lovely crew, comfortable cabin, and oh so interesting views. This was definitively the highlight of the tour. Day 19-23: Phu Quoc. H*** C**** C***: Typical beach resort in the middle of a garden with herbs, private beach, lovely warm pool. Rooms are comfortable and cool. They also have a nice restaurant with very tasty food, but no Vietnamese wine, and – in a coffee producing country! – they serve Starbucks. One could easily stay here for weeks without meeting a Vietnamese person apart from part of the staff, or eating anything Vietnamese or get into contact with the country’s culture. Though the local market and the night market in the nearby town, cheap taxi ride away, can give you more than a taste of that, if you are interested. Definitively eat dinner on the night market! A relaxing finish to an amazing holiday! Now, a few critical remarks, just so that you can do this even better, particularly for elderly couples (we are 84 and 64). Ly quickly understood that we did not want too much action and too many early mornings, so that was good, and our capabilities were only once over-estimated, that was one day in Hue. The co-ordinator for Kerala did not understand this, why we did not book that trip. Her suggestions – as all the ‘ready-made’ trips you offer in all countries are far too active and fully packed or involve hiking etc. You should maybe offer some of these more leisurely ‘senior’ tours, and so extend your clientele! Catering for older people, however, needs also another consideration. You employ very young guides in Vietnam, and though, with the exception of one (the last one at Saigon airport), they are super friendly, working hard and do their absolute best to accommodate our wishes, they do lack a bit of experience of how to treat older people. You see, we are both professors, we have travelled extensively – until we found Evaneos, we did this on our own – and we have experienced some things in life. We do not need to be told by some baby boy that we need to get up at 6 am if we want to be in time for the 7 am tour start, that we should not forget that we do have a flight back to Europe (8 days before our return date), that we should not lose our visa, we can find our way into the hotel when we stand in front of the entrance without a constant “this way ma’am”, we don’t like the tour guide to run 30 meters in front of us and decide the way, or reminded that there is a step in front of us – we are old, but we are not senile! One tour guide recommended us to google “war and 1960s” to learn more about a war that had happened in Vietnam…. Blissfully unaware that we are old enough to remember the horrors they showed in the news every night. Related to this, the tour guides are very knowledgeable about ancient history, but do not know a lot about the current situation, such as divorce rates, poverty, the educational system…. So, do not understand me wrong, they were lovely, but they would have been even better with a bit more training of how to deal with the older generations!
The best parts:
Very well organised, excellent choice of hotels and excursions
The worst parts:
Not a lot. But the guides need a bit more training of how to deal with older customers.

Our guides enabled us to see very popular tourist destinations without tourists! We visited Cambodia and Vietnam going to the main cities as well as venturing inland to visit some rural communities.
The best parts:
Our arranger listened to my requests and tailored a tour that exceeded my expectations. We felt our visit benefitted local people but wasn’t exploiting.
The worst parts:
I didn’t find the communication platform easy. In particular I struggled to find what i had written. The trip itself was great.

This was a perfect tour for a first time visitor to Vietnam with 3 weeks of time. It was not obly culture focused, exactly what we had asked for. It was a good combination of the cultural and historic sites, meeting the local people, getting a feel for where the country stands. We cane back very happy!
The best parts:
Many!! Cooking class near Ho-Chi-Minh, food tour in Hoi An, boat tours with the kids, Rikshah through Hanoi
The worst parts:
Halong Bay - nice cruise ship (although not quite up to the standard ‚luxury‘ as advertised), but food was not great.

Going to Vietnam was a childhood dream of mine. I am a babyboomer. We first arrived in Hanoi. Then went to Ninh Binh, then to Ha Long Bay, back to Hanoi and flew to Danang and visited Hue and Hoian. Hoian was a discovery. Beautiful place to visit. We then flew to Ho Chi MInh, Cu Chi Tunnel. Then we left for the Mekong Delta and Can Tho, back to Ho Chi Minh to fly to Siem Reap, Cambodia. The whole complex of Angkor Wat is grandiose. All activities in Cambodia were special and interesting.
The best parts:
The best parts about our trip was the quality of service we received from each and every guide, chauffeur and hotel staff. We were spoiled by all of them. Hotel accommodations were really clean and comfortable with a lot of luxury. But the sceneries and architecture and culture that we saw and experienced was the best part. Vietnam and Cambodia are two beautiful countries.
The worst parts:
This country is sooooo far. It took us 24 hours to get there and 36 hours on the way back. Way too long!!! We really need teleportation. The heat and humidity are also exhausting. Needed to plan more relax down time because of the heat. The food was not as good as I thought it would be. It was also difficult to have my food allergies accommodate. People don't seem to believe that food allergies are serious.

We wanted to see a bit of everything; beautiful countryside, ancient and recent history, hill tribes, and nature. We succeeded. We loved that we were able to customize our trip. For much of our trip we were accompanied by a guide and driver. We loved being able to ask them questions and they were always willing to talk candidly. Highlights were Ha Long Bay, Sapa, the Bac Ha market, Hoi An and Cat Tien National Park. We took the fast boat to Phnom Penn. We were accompanied by a guide who made crossing the border into Cambodia a breeze.
The best parts:
Vietnam was a revelation. I had no idea I would enjoy it so much. We loved our overnight boat trip in Ha Long and Bai Tu Long Bays. We loved the beauty of the Sapa area and interacting with the ethnic minority people. The Sunday Bac Ha market was a definite highlight. Hoi An was amazing, despite being overcrowded. The Cu Chi tunnel visit was well worthwhile. We really enjoyed Cat Tien National Park despite the many leeches. The lodge there was my favourite place we stayed.
The worst parts:
Hanoi and Saigon are so loud and busy. We spent as little time as possible in the cities. The overnight train from Hanoi to Sapa was an experience but I got no sleep at all. If you go to Cat Tien National Park, make sure you have good leech socks that go up to your thigh. The ones they give you are not adequate.

Vietnam is a good destination, but for private trips a programme outside the touristic hotspots is recommendend . Apart from Hoi-An this was achieved by the local agency (Ms Huong our local agent)
The best parts:
Good operational execution. Transport, hotels, guides were punctually available. Hotel in Hue (La Residence) was superb. Guide in Hue and trip to DZM were good and interesting
The worst parts:
Too little time in Hanoi. Upgrade of room in Alantara resort in Hoi-An (100 U.S. dlrs per night)

Halong Bay, Mekong river and Delta visits + staying at Sokha Roth hotel and Villa Santhi Resort are memorable life events.
The best parts:
We had a tailor made tour to Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao. It was well planned and had a great time in Halong Bay and along Mekong River. We did not like the war museums as it brought us tears. We enjoyed local markets and street food. One of the team member was well looked after from nut allergy when providing meals. The food and hotels are very good. We had English speaking knowledgeably, friendly tour guides apart from Phnom Penh. The transport and the drivers are good too.
The worst parts:
Visiting war museums.

Hanoi was fun and our guide was awesome and even took us to try egg coffee where Sen met us. The overnight train to Sapa was an adventure and our roommies on the train were French and were great. I loved the trek in Sapa. My friend had a lot more issues though. It was hot and we were not really given a lot of breaks. The shuttle back to Hanoi was great in meeting new people. Ha Long Bay was fun. The cruise started a little rough. The guide on the boat, Mr. Lee, kept focusing on how much money we spent and felt like I was in school and being punished for not studying. However, once the cruise was underway things improved greatly. We were treated great once back in Hanoi and were set up to get on the train to our next destination to see caves! The booking company took us to the train, we had extra blanket, and snacks! We were met at the station, given breakfast, and then off to caving! LOVED it. If i were to do over, I would not have done Sapa and spent more time at the caves trekking and exploring. Really amazing. We were then taken to Hue. The hotel was super cute and they gave us a welcoming drink and snack to occupy us while people were checking in. Bell boy was awesome. Next day the pass on to Hoi An was fun and our time at Marble Mountain was great. Old town Hoi An was CRAZY packed with tourists. But our guide showed us where to release lanterns. We went back later and went up/down the river. Was a lot of fun. Loved all the night markets we went to on the trip. Our basket boat tour was fantastic! Our guide was fun and we had a blast. My Son was fantastic. Everything i had imagined. We were then off to Dalat. Our guide was always excited and having fun. My only disappointment is I thought we were going to see more of the coffee farm and processing of coffee. But that was nobody's fault, I should have done better research. I also thought the wine tasting was part of the tour, so was surprised we had to pay, but that was just a simple misunderstanding. We ended the trip in Saigon. Guide was nice and had some good suggestions. My favorites were night markets, My Son, the caves, and even the overnight train.
The best parts:
Our POC that planned and coordinated the trip, Sen, was AMAZING! She helped us plan a great trip and was always checking in on us to make sure things were going well and helped to resolve any issues/concerns. Our guide while in the Hanoi region was also amazing. I liked the overnight trains, the caves, the fact we were taken to local places to eat instead of the 'safe' places most tour groups take foreigners. Really enjoyed our hotel in Hue. The bellman was super attentive.
The worst parts:
Nothing on the trip was really all that bad. Our guide in Sapa is probably better matched to guys. He was really nice and a good guide, but not very attentive really. Saigon started a little rough with our guide, but improved throughout the day. Now that I've been to Vietnam I would have planned things a little differently, but the trip was still amazing. Managing expectations is probably the hardest part for a tour company. We had some expectations based on our trip the previous year to Laos, but we did not check if our assumptions were correct, so can't fault any guide or anything.
