You should choose the summer to discover Sweden, unless you want to ski, relax in the thermal baths or see the famous Northern Lights.

The best time to explore Sweden is between May and July. In reality, August can be quite rainy and in winter a lot of the tourist sites are closed. However nothing is stopping you from going during winter to visit the towns which are lively throughout the year. But prepare yourself against the cold and be ready for long nights, in the literal sense: the sun hardly rises during winter because of the latitude we are at. If you stay awake you will be able to admire the famous Northern Lights.

The Swedes are the kings of relaxation trips. If you want to be purely among nature and relax the body and mind at the same time, it's a good idea to go to Sweden. You will have the choice between different spas and care centres set up in secluded places, such as the famous Loka Brunn or even Lundsbrunn. Some of these centres include hiking and other activities. If you choose one of them, it is better to go in summer. On the other hand if you plan on spending a whole week pampering yourself, then you can go at any time of year.

Sweden has excellent land for hiking. You can explore the Scania lakes on foot or the Sarek national park, ideally between May and July. The must do in terms of Swedish hiking is the Abisko National Park, where you will be at one with nature and take incredible photos.

The Stockholm archipelago is one of the unmissable parts of your trip to Sweden. You need to take the ferry at least once to go and relax on one of the 24,000 magnificent islands of the archipelago. Taste an excellent fresh fish meal and breathe in the enticing pure air...There is one condition: go between May and July, as this is an experience for the summer.

You can leave from November to May to go skiing in a popular Swedish resort such as the one at Silijan Lake. You are guaranteed to have excellent snow and the countryside is stunning. Another must do in Sweden: ice skating on a frozen lake! During the summer, enjoy discovering the country by bike, especially the Scania Lakes.
