During my discovery of the Kaokoland region, I was fortunate to make a &gt;detour by the Hoanib riverbed for a beautiful drive in a 4x4. I was with a group and we came across a herd of goats, led by young children and noisy dogs who gave us a warm welcome on our approach.  Although the Hoanib River is dry, it has some vegetation, which grows on the riverbed and which stands out clearly against the more barren parts to the south. It's quite logically a place where lots of animals can be found, including the famous desert elephants which I was able to admire a little earlier in Damaraland, another <a href="/namibia/">must-see region in Namibia</a>.
