If we have loved the Island of Gods, the pearl of Indonesia, which has had such great tourist success for many years now, we can't deny that it is suffering for its fame. The environment is deteriorating year by year, mainly due to the plague of plastic which is everywhere and which the government does nothing about. Rubbish is not treated and the plastic remains.

What I saw of Tabanan centre did not really encourage me to stay there for a very long time. However, the Tabanan area has a great number of things to see which are really worth stopping there for: a large amount of temples, but also spectacular scenery. Let's start with the temples. Not far from the city of Tabanan, two kilometres to the north of Mengwi, the beautiful Pura Taman Ayun is located, an immense national temple surrounded by gardens in the middle of which several meru towers arise, representations of the sacred Hindu mountain. The region's other temples are the famous Tanah Lot, known for the view that it offers at sunset,and Batukaru temple, nestled in the middle of luscious vegetation. The landscapes are not to be beaten since the region also boasts the superb rice fields of Jatiluwih, Bratan Lake and Ulun Danu Bratan, the black sand beach Yeh Gangga in the south and magnificent mountain roads that I encourage you to explore!
